The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Parliament of Ghana has surcharged the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, in the Western Region, for absenteeism during its public hearing.
The District was invited to appear before the Committee on Friday 17th January 2020, as part of on-going public hearing in Parliament to consider the report of the Auditor-General on the management and utilisation of District Assemblies’ Common Fund for the year ending 31st December, 2015/2016.
The DCE, Kwesi Bonzoh, was in Parliament House but could not make it to the conference room for interrogation as planned.
This compelled the PAC Chairman, James Klutse Avedzi, to defer their appearance to Monday, 20th January 2020, to which they obliged.
The PAC Chairman, in the early hours of Monday, when the committee converged expressed his disappointment at the turn of events as they re-appeared. The chairman surcharged them and asked the internal Auditor to retrieve about ¢600.00 spent on fuel for the second appearance from the DCE, Kwesi Bonzoh.
The Committee, has accordingly, cleared and discharged the DCE and his officials.
