Gomoa Central District Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo has encouraged parents to endeavor sacrificing towards their Children’s Education.
According to the DCE, education was the surest way towards poverty eradication stressing that the best legacy parents could leave for their Children is education
“There is no doubt that education is the key to Development and it is also the key to poverty eradication in homes and families. As parents, we ought to be proud of sacrificing our resources towards our Children’s education. Our parents were able to sacrifice whatever they had to send us to school and that is what has brought us this far,” he emphasised.
Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo stated these when he presented laptops to Seven girls from selected Basic Schools in the District at Gomoa Afransi.
The Girls had participated in the Second Edition of Girls in ICT competition held at Cape Coast in the Central Region recently. The event was to enable the Girls to acquire basic knowledge in ICT
Gomoa Central District was among the 14 out of 22 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies that took part in the competition with 980 Girls from their various Schools participating
According to the DCE, the Girls from Gomoa Central District performed brilliantly with all the Seven placings among the first 100 positions.
“It is worthy to note that Two (2) our Girls Miss Stephanie Esi Minta from Aboso-Benso Model ‘C’ Basic School and Miss Hickmatu Issifu from Aboso ‘ A’ Basic School placed 10th and 17th positions in the Best 20 category respectively
This performance has encouraged us to intensify ICT training in our schools. Over 97% of our schools have Computers for effective teaching of ICT.
We will continue to champion the need for Girls -in -ICT initiative to whip up interest in our daughters to enable them acquire ICT skills.
This will enhance their opportunity as they seek to develop their career in the ICT industry and to make them competitive on the job market
This is why parents have the responsibility of sacrificing their resources to supplement government effort by ensuring that their children attain height in the educational ladder.
This brilliant performance comes with a reward, Government is going to construct ultra-modern ICT facilities for the aforementioned schools and would be equipped with internet facilities.
This will have a positive impact which it comes to teaching and learning of ICT and its related subjects. It also mean that our children in Gomoa Central would be abreast with the global community
Miss Stephanie Esi Minta and Miss Hickmatu Issifu by virtue of their positions have qualified for National Competition with juicy awards for winners. Winners will make a holiday trip to the United States of America. I’m sure our girls will come out with flying colours”.
Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo advised the Girls stick to their books and also shun bad company adding they ought to attain height in Education
“We want to get more Girls reaching where we have reached and even go furthermore. You must have a role model in mind and work towards what you want to be in the near future. Be the kind of Girls that would spearhead the development of Gomoa Central District and who your parents would be proud of sacrificing their resources for your education.
Our Member of Parliament, Hon. Naana Eyiah being a woman would continue to support you to achieve glorious for Gomoa Central Constituency.
She has promised to do everything within her means to ensure that Gomoa Central District would be counted among the best when it comes to Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the country

The Assistant Director In-change of Supervision of the Gomoa Central District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, Madam Ruby Kwakye commended the girls for making the Directorate and Gomoa Central District in particular proud.
Madam Ruby Kwakye commended DCE for Gomoa Central , Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo and MP for Gomoa Central Hon. Naana Eyiah for their supporting the Directorate in discharging its mandate of raising the educational standard in the District.
She assured that the needed materials would be given to the Two Girls who would be taking part in the National ICT competition hoping they will come out with flying colours.
Mr. Peter Akyen on behalf of parents lauded the Education Directorate, Gomoa Central DCE and the Member of Parliament for what he said was a relief of financial burden associated with their Children’s education.
He praised His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo led NPP government for Free SHS, Free Registration of BECE candidates as well as Free end of term examination fees saying this has put monies into their pockets thus empowering them financially.
Present were Gomoa Central District Coordinating Director Mr Daniel Koney, Former Presiding Member for Gomoa Central District Assembly,Hon Kweku Nyarko Koomson, Madam Gifty Mensah, Gomoa Central District Girl Child Coordinator, Mr. Collins Edu Abban, Headteacher, Aboso-Benso Model ‘C’ Basic School, Mr. Nurudeen Wahab Adam, Head of Community Development, Gomoa Central District Assembly and some parents.
