Parliament has given the green light to a staggering GHC4 billion budget allocation for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs for the 2025 fiscal year.

This substantial funding is earmarked for disbursing allowances to assembly members and traditional authorities and supporting a wide range of programmes and projects under the Ministry’s purview.

Moreover, plans are underway to establish a National Prayer Day, underscoring the NDC’s government commitment to promoting spiritual growth and unity.

Minister for Roads and Highways and MP for Adaklu, Governs Agbodza, addressed concerns regarding the remuneration of assembly members during a parliamentary session on Thursday, March 27.

He assured that “The assembly members’ remuneration will be part of the Common Fund formula, which is being considered”.

This significant budget allocation is poised to have a profound impact on the Ministry’s operations, enabling it to effectively discharge its mandate and drive development at the local level.

Surely, as the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs continues to play a vital role in promoting good governance and balanced development, this funding is a timely boost to its efforts.
