Parliament Protecting Public Purse: for or against the people?

Dying Parliaments are worst enemies of the People…

January 4th, 2017 Parliament passed a Rescission of Residential Property for Former Presidents and reintroduced the Chinnrey-Hesse Committee which had been jettisoned much earlier by Parliament because of the Kufuor FREEHOLD LAND clause which was fiercely resisted.

THE KUFUOR FREEHOLD CLAUSE: ‘retirement residential property given by the state to the former President be given to the family of the former President upon his death not to render his family destitute.’

This clause if accepted, would give FREEHOLD LAND to every former President which is transferable to his family or anybody of his/their choice FOREVER.

This clause if accepted, would deny the Original Land Owners of their lands FOREVER, and it is compounded by the number of such unconscionable Freehold grants.

The laws on FREEHOLD is clear.

This clause also suggests that former Presidents are irresponsible and incapable of getting suitable accommodation on their tax-free salaries and benefits which they retire on, in a country where ordinary citizens without such opportunities have accommodation and therefore will be rendered destitute.

This clause suggests that current and former First Ladies who are currently on comfortable Allowances are incapable of similarly acquiring accommodation and will therefore be rendered destitute.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH with this game of Land Looting.

Regularly dying Parliaments in approving salaries and benefits of the President, Vice Presidents and Article 71 Officeholders and Vice versa, sin against the people of Ghana and the public purse.

scratch my back, I scratch your back.

These dying Parliaments however acrimonious during their lifetime find the singular time of unanimity in thought and VOTE for Emoluments however ridiculous.

It is now up to the people of Ghana to uphold the decision of Parliament and President in the above regard or hold them to account and insist on them rescinding the burden being put on the poor Ghanaian taxpayers, the debt distressed economy which is surviving on debilitating loans and suffocating taxes on the citizens.

Will it amout to paying DOUBLE SALARY; if a First or Second Lady is employed, in a State Agency or Company?

Is this to ensure all First and Second Ladies become housewives running NGOs?

BE CITIZENS, NOT SPECTATORS!
