Ghana’s Parliament has been called back from recess for an emergency sitting today, September 3, 2024. The decision was communicated by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin on Wednesday, August 7, following a petition from the Majority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin.
In the petition, the Effutu MP expressed disappointment in the Speaker for adjourning the last parliamentary session sine die on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. He stressed the importance of reconvening Parliament to address urgent government business that had been left unresolved.
The emergency sitting will take place at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre, as the main chamber of the House is currently undergoing retrofitting.
