Peace Restored in Kpandai After Konkomba-Fulani Ethnic Clash

The escalation prompted the intervention of police and military forces stationed in nearby Bimbilla, who swiftly moved in to restore peace and order.

Calm has returned to the Kpandai community in Northern Ghana following a clash between members of the Konkomba ethnic group and Fulani herders, which destroyed several properties.

The conflict erupted when a Konkomba man was attacked by suspected armed robbers while returning home from work. In an attempt to steal his motorbike, the man resisted, leading to severe injuries inflicted with a dagger.

In response, tribe members of the victim retaliated by attacking the house of the Fulani chief in Kpandai. They set fire to the chief’s house, killed his cattle, and took away the meat.

The escalation prompted the intervention of police and military forces stationed in nearby Bimbilla, who swiftly moved in to restore peace and order.

The District Chief Executive for Kpandai has since called for additional security measures to prevent further violence. The injured victim has been transferred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.

The clash underscores ongoing tensions between ethnic communities in the region, highlighting the need for sustained efforts to promote peaceful coexistence and prevent future outbreaks of violence.
