Poem: The Statue of Shame

The incarnate of Agorkoli

On this dusty road stands the statue of shame

A galamsey statue forged with the blood of

Citizens and spectators and deformed babies

A midgety statue in the city’s spotlight

Erected on a canvas of potholes that impede

The people’s journey and peace

On this dusty road stands the statue of shame

Unveiled with pomp and pageantry

Leaving behind a dissolute relics of the despot

In the heart of the town that thaws hearts

Commissioned with grave omissions to shame

Shame

On this dusty road stands the statue of shame

A heartache figure looking upon the Western

People with disdain and strabismus mockery

But when the people look at the the joke

They see broken promises and betrayal and

Wickedness and failure

Some townsfolk even behold the god of poison waters

On this dusty road stands the statue of shame

Shame the past has wished never existed

Shame the present yearns to discard

Shame posterity will live to exhume

On this dusty road stands

The incarnate of Agorkoli

The Destroyer

Divisive

Disaster
