Police arrest NPP regional secretary

Daniel Parker Odailai France is suspected to have ordered a gang of eight well-built men to assault Daniel Amakye Kingsford, who wanted to observe the acclamation of Ablekuma West polling station executives at the Dansoman Liberty Park on Sunday, March 13.

The Accra Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service on Tuesday, March 15 invited the Greater Accra Region Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to assist with investigations on an assault case on a party delegate.

Daniel Parker Odailai France is suspected to have ordered a gang of eight well-built men to assault Daniel Amakye Kingsford, who wanted to observe the acclamation of Ablekuma West polling station executives at the Dansoman Liberty Park on Sunday, March 13.

Mr Amakye Kingsford, an aspirant for the upcoming constituency elections, was said to have been pushed to the ground by the suspect, who also ordered the men to beat him up.

“It took the intervention of some people around to rush him to an undisclosed hospital,” a source told 3news.com.

The Accra Regional Police CID said Mr Odailai France was formally charged immediately he honoured the invitation but was released on a police enquiry bail same day.

He would, however, be arraigned before court on Wednesday, March 16.

“We continue to assure the public that the police are committed to the protection of life and property at all times and also poised to promote law and order for a peaceful society,” a press release signed by DSP Juliana Obeng of the Command’s Public Affairs Unit said.
