Police Gun Down Three Road Demonstrators
Reports picked up by Whatsup News indicates that three persons have been shot by officers of the Ghana Police Service following protests over bad roads in Agona Swedru in the Central Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the three persons may have been hit by stray bullets from warning shots by the police when confusion ensued between the angry residents and the officers. There has been no official confirmation of the injuries as the three have been reportedly rushed to the hospital.
The angry demonstrators’ mainly made up of residents and drivers blocked all access roads to the town causing commuters to be stranded at the roadblocks.
“We are not fighting, the police are infringing on our rights, as I am speaking to you now, three persons have been gunned down with others severally injured. An angry resident said in reports monitored by Whatsup News. This latest protests in Swedru over bad roads the fastest catching trend across the country as residents protest the government’s lethargic attitude towards roads construction across the country. There have been protests in the Volta Region, Northern Region, Ashanti Region, Greater Accra Region, Volta Region, etc.
