District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee for Gomoa West, Bismark Basie Nkum, has been approved by the local assembly.
An election was held on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at the assembly and Bismark had 39 out of the 52 votes cast.
The Local Government Minister, Dan Botwe announced Nana Akufo-Addo’s choice of 260 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive nominees on Sunday, September 19, 2021.
Bismark Nkum, President of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), has become the first nominee to be approved out of the 260 nominees.
He also served as an MMDCE in the previous administration and is among the few who have been retained by Nana Akufo-Addo.
After swearing the oath of office, Mr Nkum expressed appreciation to the members of the assembly for his approval assured them that he will consult and work with them towards the development of the district.
The election was observed by the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Central Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Robert Kutin Jnr, the Omanhene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI and a few others.
All remaining assemblies are expected to vote and approve or reject the nominees.
