PWD Evangelist Akwasi Mireku Inspires Congregants with Powerful Praise

…at Mountain of the Lord Ministries

Worshippers at Mountain of the Lord Ministries International were moved by a powerful performance from Evangelist Akwasi Mireku, a Person Living With Disability (PWD), during the final day of a six-day worship session. Held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the church’s auditorium on Nii Layea Street, Dansoman-Asoredanho, the event saw Mireku captivating the congregation with his praise songs despite his physical challenges.

Evangelist Mireku, displaying remarkable energy, stood and jumped during his performance, prompting many congregants to rush forward, eager to tap into his anointing. Some members, overcome by the Holy Spirit, crawled on the floor as the atmosphere became electrifying.

Midway through the service, the church’s sound and lighting systems suddenly malfunctioned, causing some confusion. However, Evangelist Mireku remained calm, assuring the worshippers that this was a common occurrence during his performances. He recounted a similar incident during a live session at Angel FM/TV, attributing the disruptions to God’s direct presence during his praise.

The evangelist also shared his personal journey, recalling how he had faced stigmatization from childhood due to his disability. He narrated how a pastor had once labeled him as a “devilish river child” who should be thrown into a river, but despite these adversities, God had elevated him to a place of international recognition.

As he sang songs like “Nnka mene hwan sε meto ne ho dwom” (Who am I to sing praises to Him?), the congregation was moved, with many rushing to him for blessings. Prophet Richard Amponsah, the church’s head pastor, praised Mireku for his performance, stating, “He stood tall among all the singers today. I was truly satisfied.”

In her welcome address, Asafo Maame Gertrude Amponsah urged the congregation to remain patient and wait on the Lord, highlighting the significance of the ninth month (September), likening it to the gestation period leading to the birth of blessings.

The celebration coincided with Prophet Amponsah’s birthday, and the congregation erupted in joy with drumming, dancing, and singing, led by Mireku and other gospel ministers such as Nana Abena Afriyie. The event concluded with a session of testimonies and a Q&A segment led by guest pastor Evangelist Bright Obeng.

MC Samuel Oppong described the event as “great and fulfilling.”
