GJA Elections: Dwumfuor to prioritize the Welfare of Journalists

A front-runner in the race for the presidency of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Dwumfuor says he will prioritize the welfare of the journalist and media practitioners when he gets the nod to lead the association.

Dwomfuor is the current Organizing Secretary of the Association and the General Manager of Atinka Media Village. He filed his nomination forms on Tuesday awaiting vetting and the commencement of active campaign across the country.

In an interview with journalists shortly after filing his forms that he has realized that the conditions of service of journalists in the country is nothing to write home about hence his interest in the position so he can work to enhance the situation.

“I stand for 3 key things. Journalists Lives first, the welfare of Journalists is very key and I’m coming in to change the status quo and let journalists feel comfortable,” he stated.

He said he will ensure that the security of the journalist also comes to the front burner for discussion.

“We will make sure we use all the means, the connections to bring all the stakeholders on a round table to discuss so we don’t compromise our security,” he stated.

“The world is evolving so how do we – Traditional media, position ourselves to meet the trend. All these things are going to be factored in the quarterly workshops that we would be organizing, under my tenure”, he added.

He has therefore pleaded with all delegates who would be voting on election day to trust him with their votes for the needed transformation of the Ghana Journalists Association.
