The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the suspension of the re-declaration of parliamentary results for the Dome Kwabenya and Ablekuma North constituencies.
The decision follows a failure by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to provide hard copies of the pink sheets required to resolve outstanding discrepancies.
Speaking to the media, the Returning Officer for Dome Kwabenya, James Coffie explained that the EC lacked hard copies of the pink sheets and had been relying on soft copies submitted by presiding officers in the constituencies.
“We wanted the parties to provide hard copies of the pink sheets so we could cross-check the figures. However, they have indicated that they also don’t have the hard copies,” Coffie stated.
As a result, the EC has directed officials to put the process on hold while the Commission investigates the matter further.
“The Commission has informed us that they will look into the issue and provide a resolution,” Coffie added.
Meanwhile, the Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Benjamin Bannor Bio has stated that the EC Management will take a final decision on the suspended Dome-Kwabenya and Ablekuma North constituencies.
