Read-A-Thon: Sophia Boadi plans to break Guinness World Record for Reading

The event is scheduled to take place at the Semenhyia Mall in Kumasi.

A 27 year old Ghanaian lady plans to challenge a Turkish national by breaking the Guinness world record for reading dubbed Read-A-THON. The event is scheduled for March 15 to 21, 2024 in Kumasi.

Sophia Boadi who only mentioned her profession as a confidential secretary hails from Kwamo near Ejisu in the Ashanti region.

At a short ceremony to formally introduce herself and her challenge to the Kwamo traditional council, the aspiring record breaker said the move was to inspire the younger generation and instill in them the culture of reading.

She said reading brings about exposure and increases proficiency in people particularly school children, hence her quest to involve pupils at basic level in the challenge.

Sophia Boadi seeks to break the Read A-THON Guinness world record of 125 hours of continues reading by moving way beyond 150 hours.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Semenhyia Mall in Kumasi.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Kwamo, Nana Owusu Nyanin, has pledged his fullest support to Sophia and urged her to remain resolute in the challenge so as to bring honour and glory to the Kwamo area as well as Ashanti region and Ghana as a whole.

Nana Nyanin was happy that Sophia chose the reading record out of the lot. Reading he said broadens the knowledge of every individual an builds a civilized society

He has therefore called on every one to support the bid of Sophia for victory at the end.
