A groundbreaking software, Admissions Checker, has been developed by Professor Kobby Mensah of the University of Ghana to help Senior High School (SHS) students navigate the often-complex university admissions process.
This innovative tool uses a student’s WASSCE examination grades and high school courses to determine their eligibility for admission to various universities and programs.
By providing a comprehensive assessment of a student’s chances of admission, Admissions Checker aims to reduce uncertainty and confusion surrounding the university admissions process.
According to Professor Mensah, the software is designed to provide students with realistic choices and opportunities for university admission.
“By inputting their academic records, students can receive a report indicating their admission opportunities in percentage terms,” he explained.
While acknowledging that admission to university is influenced by multiple factors, Professor Mensah believes that Admissions Checker will empower students to make informed decisions about their academic future.

The Admissions Checker platform requires users to provide their courses offered at high school, WASSCE examination grades, and demographic information.
The software then processes this information against robust algorithms to generate a comprehensive report.
Additionally, Admissions Checker serves as a valuable tool for Senior High School (SHS) students to enhance their academic performance before taking the WASSCE exams. For instance, SHS 1 students can utilize the platform to assess their eligibility for university admission based on their current terminal results.
