Roads Ministry Probes Buduburam Rock Blast Accident

The Kasoa-Winneba Road Dualization Project is part of the Ministry’s efforts to improve Ghana’s road infrastructure.

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has issued a statement condemning the tragic blasting accident that occurred on Monday at the Kasoa-Winneba Road Dualization Project site at Budumburam, Central Region.

The Kasoa-Winneba Road Dualization Project is part of the Ministry’s efforts to improve Ghana’s road infrastructure.

The project aims to enhance road safety, reduce travel times, and promote economic growth in the region.

The Incident

According to the Ministry, yesterday’s blasting accident resulted in fatalities and injuries.

The Ministry has expressed its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected.

Investigation and Response

The Ministry has commenced investigations into the incident to determine its cause.

The Ministry is working closely with relevant institutions, including the Ghana Police Service and the National Disaster and Management Organisation (NADMO), to ascertain the number of casualties and injuries.

Previous Safety Record

The contractor had successfully carried out 21 controlled blasting exercises at the same site without incident, in collaboration with NADMO and the Ghana Police Service.

Ministry’s Assurance

The Ministry assures the public that it will collaborate with relevant state institutions to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident and disclose the findings to the public.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident and express our condolences to the families of the victims. We will work tirelessly to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future,” said Nasir Ahmad Yartey, Head of the Public Relations Unit.
