The prestigious global event, organized in collaboration with UNESCO, will take place in Accra from October 1-2, 2024.

The RTI Coalition expressed its enthusiasm in welcoming stakeholders, delegates, and participants from around the world to Ghana, encouraging them to enjoy the country’s famed hospitality while engaging in critical discussions on access to information as a fundamental human right. The coalition emphasized that IDUAI 2024 presents a unique platform to advance conversations on strengthening participatory governance through enhanced access to information.

In a statement, the RTI Coalition stressed its commitment to working with the government and other stakeholders to ensure that the outcomes of the conference align with the goal of embedding access to information in public sector governance. The coalition is particularly eager to see tangible steps emerge from the event, which will further mainstream access to information in public sector practices.

As Ghana gears up for its general elections in December 2024, the Coalition also expressed its intent to engage the government on the Right to Information’s role in ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections. They believe promoting access to information is crucial to fostering democracy and safeguarding electoral integrity.
