Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Chairman of Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL), has opened up about the challenges he faces in his fight against corruption, including daily threats to his safety.
Speaking during an interview on Joy News’ PM Express on January 13, Ablakwa revealed that his role in the anti-corruption initiative has made him a target. “Threats have become part of my daily life, but I remain steadfast. I trust in God’s protection and refuse to be distracted by the fake news and smear campaigns aimed at me. We are focused on our mission,” he said.
ORAL, a bold initiative by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, is tasked with investigating alleged cases of state asset misappropriation during the previous Akufo-Addo administration. The committee is probing cases involving stolen lands, vehicles, revenues, and questionable contracts. Findings from ORAL will be forwarded to the Attorney General’s office for further legal action.
Ablakwa emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “This fight isn’t about politics. It’s about justice and accountability for the Ghanaian people. We are unwavering in our commitment to recover what belongs to the state.”
However, the initiative has faced backlash from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), which has questioned the legitimacy of ORAL and argued that it lacks the legal mandate to operate.
Despite these challenges, Ablakwa remains resolute, urging Ghanaians to support the fight against corruption and hold leaders accountable.
