Scripture Union (SU) Ghana, a national autonomous evangelical Christian organization committed to helping people know Christ and live His Word, has held an induction ceremony under the theme “Helping People Know Christ and Live His Word.” The event also marked the appointment of Rev. Prof. Emeritus Emmanuel Martey as the National Council Chairman.

As a non-denominational movement with an inter-denominational membership, SU Ghana operates as a self-governing, self-preparing, and self-financing ministry. The organization was formally structured in the 1950s and became an autonomous member of the worldwide Scripture Union family in 1965.

SU Ghana provides exciting opportunities for spiritual growth and transformation through four key ministries:

  • Bible Ministry: Provides practical resources to facilitate daily Bible reading and enhance its impact.
  • Schools Ministry: Shares the Gospel and nurtures young leaders in schools nationwide.
  • Camps Ministry: Encourages faith development, builds character, and empowers young people.
  • Community Fellowships & Prayer Warriors Ministry: Spreads the Gospel, strengthens families, and equips church leaders through prayer and evangelism.

The newly inducted officers of the council include:

  • Prof. Emmanuel A. Boate – National Council Chairman
  • Rev. Prof. Ivy Drafor-Amenyah – Vice Chairperson
  • Rev. Mrs. Nana Kegya Appiah-Adu – Honorary Secretary

His areas of expertise include Banking Operations, Agricultural Finance, Microfinance, Strategic Planning, Business Process Re-engineering, and Project Planning, Management, and Evaluation.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Boate, a results-oriented corporate executive with over 35 years of leadership experience in Ghana, called for unity and hard work to uphold and enhance the reputation of SU Ghana. He urged the new council members to serve with commitment and integrity.

“I dedicate my new role as your National Council Chairman to delivering leadership that will transform lives through faith and truly help people know Christ and live His Word,” he stated.
