Sefwi Wiawso: NPP executives give Speaker Bagbin a week ultimatum to apologise for sacking their MP from chamber

The aggrieved party sympathizers claim the action of the Speaker is a gross disrespect to their MP and the entire Sefwi people.

Some regional and constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the Western North and Sefwi Wiawso constituency respectively, have staged a protest against the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.

Their protest is in connection with the sacking of their Member of Parliament, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, from the chamber on Monday, July 22, 2024, over some comments the Speaker deemed rude.

The aggrieved party sympathizers claim the action of the Speaker is a gross disrespect to their MP and the entire Sefwi people.

Atta Marfo, the constituency secretary for the New Patriotic Party, addressing the press Tuesday, July 23, a day after the spat in Parliament, described the action of the Speaker as unfortunate and demanded an unqualified apology to their MP and people of Sefwi Wiawso.

They have given the Speaker a week ultimatum to apologise or else take an action against him.
