In a surprising turn of events, the dismissed Jasikan Circuit Court judge, Alfred Kwabena Asiedu, has strongly denied the allegations made against him by the petitioner, Singari Diana Sadia.
Asiedu, who was removed from the Judicial Service due to his inappropriate conduct in a divorce case he adjudicated, claims that the charges made against him are false and a product of the petitioner’s imagination.
The Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, released a letter dismissing Judge Asiedu from the Judicial Service following an investigation into the petitioner’s accusations.
However, Asiedu vehemently rejects the claims and asserts that every material allegation made in the petition is false.
He refers to them as a “figment of the illusioned imagination of the petitioner.”
Furthermore, the judge denies ever requesting money from the petitioner, countering that his own investigations have revealed that the petitioner was aided by a staff member of the Dambai District Court to formulate the petition against him.
Asiedu expresses his disappointment in the involvement of the Complaint Unit, stating that they played along with the petitioner and the staff member from the Dambai District Court.
The background of this dispute stems from a petition filed by Singari Diana Sadia on January 16, accusing Judge Asiedu of various offenses including abuse of power, sexual exploitation, malicious prosecution, and impropriety.
The Chief Justice transferred the petition to the disciplinary committee of the Judicial Service, which investigated the matter and recommended that the judge be dismissed based on his misconduct.
In light of his dismissal, Judge Asiedu has been directed by the Chief Justice to hand over all official properties, including his official vehicle, dockets, and record books, to the Judicial Secretary.
This case has caused a stir in the legal community, drawing attention to the accountability and ethics of judges within the judicial system. The allegations made against Judge Asiedu, if proven to be true, highlight the need for a thorough investigation and potential reforms to prevent such misconduct in the future.
The Judicial Service has affirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and conduct within the judiciary.
They have assured the public that appropriate measures will be taken to address any misconduct and maintain public trust in the legal system.
