SHOCKING REVELATION: Former Finance Minister Demands Probe into ‘Missing’ National Cathedral Millions

In a bombshell statement, former deputy Finance Minister Dr. Stephen Amoah has thrown his weight behind critics of Ghana’s controversial National Cathedral project, calling for a full-blown investigation into the staggering amounts of money already sunk into the unfinished religious monument!

Speaking on Joy News AM on Thursday, Dr. Amoah—an outspoken member of the ruling NPP—admitted that while he supports the idea of a cathedral as a Christian, the murky financial dealings surrounding the project cannot be ignored!

“Honestly, I am not against the Cathedral because I am a Christian, but I stand with those questioning the money poured into this foundation,” he declared.

Calls for an Urgent Probe!

The former deputy Finance Minister, who said he was in charge of “Wealth Creation,” did not mince words as he called for an urgent forensic audit into the funding of the project, insisting that Ghanaians deserve answers about where their money has gone!

“I think that money should be investigated, and those raising concerns are absolutely right—even though I am an NPP member!” he boldly stated.

Is the Cathedral in the Wrong Location?

In another shocking twist, Dr. Amoah also questioned the very location of the project, saying its placement in the heart of Accra—near the International Conference Centre and Parliament—was a strategic blunder!

“I personally think the location is a problem,” he emphasized, raising fresh doubts about the planning and execution of the multi-million-dollar project.

Scandal-Plagued Project Under Fire!

Launched in 2017 as a flagship project of the Akufo-Addo administration, the National Cathedral was meant to stand as a symbol of Ghana’s Christian heritage. However, it has become one of the most controversial projects in the country’s history!

Plagued by ballooning costs, secrecy over funding sources, and shocking allegations of embezzlement, the project has sparked national outrage! Many Ghanaians argue that the money being poured into the Cathedral could be better spent on hospitals, schools, and roads—not an extravagant religious monument!

As pressure mounts on the government, Dr. Amoah’s bold demand for transparency is likely to fuel the fire—raising new questions about who is truly benefiting from this project and who is to blame for its stalled progress!

Will the government heed the calls for an investigation? Will those responsible for any financial mismanagement be held accountable? The nation waits with bated breath!
