Smart Brain Quiz Competition: Xipe M/A Basic School Emerge Winners

The Xipe M/A Basic School in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta region has emerged winners in an inter schools quiz competition dubbed; XIYOD Smart Brain Quiz Competition.

The competition organised on Friday, December 27, 2024, was a collaborative initiate of Xipe Youth for Development (XIYOD) a non-govermental organization (NGO) and Jopasty Garments, a garment making brand.

The competition was between Xipe M/A Basic School, Devego M/A Basic School and Vume M/A Basic School.

Xipe M/A Basic School which presented all female contestants emerged winners with 65 points, followed by Vume M/A with 49 points and Devego Badic school with 45 points.

The winners received goodies from JOPASTY GARMENTS including certificates, medals and School bags and other stationaries, with Vume Basic School receiving the Most Competitive Spirit Award for their resilience, tenacity and teamwork.

The awards were presented to the contestants by Hon. James Klutse Avedzi, outgoing Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North, Edem Eric Agbana, MP-Elect for Ketu North, Godfred Dzissah and the CEO of JOPASTY Garments who is also an executive youth counsel member of XIYOD, Wisdom Adzakey.

The Quiz Competition was part of activities that marked the 50th anniversary celebration of “Deviza” of the Chiefs and people of Xipe in the Volta Region, where indigenes of the area converge to celebrate their culture and to raise funds, pull resources together to initiate self help development projects.

Speaking on the sidelines of the competition, Mr. Wisdom Adzakey said the initiate was part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of the JOPASTY Garments brand and XIYOD aimed at improving the general academic performance of the schools. He hinted of plans in the future to assist basic schools in the enclave to improve on teaching and learning outcomes.

Hon. James Klutse Avedzi and Mr. Edem Agbana, both took turns to congratulate the contestants, urging them to take their studies seriously so as to become useful adults, contributing meaningfully to national development.

The 50th anniversary celebration of “Deviza” which brought together citizens of Xipe from both far and near, Traditional leaders and well -wishers, was on the theme: “Deviza” @ 50; Honoring Tradition, Empowering Education.
