Reminiscent of the Biblical saying, “Cast thy bread upon the waters” Speaker of Parliament, the Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, last Tuesday, March 28, 2023 led a team of renowned national Pastors to pray for the nation during his Second Breakfast prayer meeting.
In the end he got prayed for profusely by the numerous pastors at the programme. They included, Hon. Rev Helen Adjoa Ntoso, MP for Krachie West, Bishop Agyin Asare of Perez Chapel, Rev. Dr. Wengam of the Assemblies of God, Apostle Eric Nyamekye of the Church of Pentecost, Bishop Lawrence Tetteh, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah of Royal House Chaple, among others.
God Has an Assignment for You
Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah, who gave a word of Exhortation, noted that the Lord has an assignment for Speaker Bagbin and that is why he continues to leave. He maintained that until he has finished with his assignment, he will not leave this earth, more so, taking into consideration his health.
Premising his sermon on Judges 16:13, he recounted how the people of Israel were visited with mishaps and how they doubted even the existence of God and alleged miracles he offered people at one time.
However, with the intervention of God, the mishaps turned into a blessing once more as the people saw happiness once more. In the same vein Ghanaians should pray to God till things round again.
Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah recounted with nostalgia those good days of the GNTCS, the UTCs, CFAs and many more. He charged Ghanaians not to throw their hands in despair, but pray and cry to God for Him to turn things around for the better once more.
The Way Forward
The Reverend Minister suggested three things for the way forward in Ghana’s present predicament of economic woes, emphasing that this was not the first time a country had gone through such predicament. That even the developed world had fallen victim to such misfortunes he suggested three ways forward. These are; Divine Acknowledgement, Divine Intervention and Divine Action.
Rev. Ankrah pointed out that if a problem arises, one should seek divine knowledge of the problem, and when it is acknowledged, one should seek divine intervention and after that divine action is the next. This means that one should not fold his hands but take the appropriate action. He pointed out that Ghana is blessed with both natural and human resources. Therefore, with these, Ghana can once more turn things round.
Prayers for the Nation Session
Powerful prayers were then said for the various institutions of state in a solemn and prayerful mood that for the Economy, was led by Rev. S.O. Asante of the Pentecost church. That for Parliament was led by Bishop Agyin Asare, who cited, Isaiah 10:5; 1 Chronicle 29. That for the Judiciary was led by Dr. Rev. Wengham, who cited Deuteronomy 1:16. That for the Executive was led by Apostle Eric Nyamekye, while that for the Ghanaian populate was led by Rev. Asare.
Earlier in his welcome address, chairman for the Parliamentary Christian fellowship Hon. Emmanuel Bedzrah had charged all to pray for Ghana for her economic woes and many others.
Speaker Is Blessed With Prayers
Then came the ultimate, when the speaker, after his address assured Ghanaians of Parliament’s preparedness and readiness to pass the Gay and Lesbianism Bill, which he said, had kept far too long with the chairman of the committee charged with it, many reminders notwithstanding. He intimated that the House will pass the Bill without fear or favour.
This attracted the happiness and joy of the clergy around, who marshalled around the speaker to pray for boldness for him in this regard. Also they prayed profusely for his health.
