Speaker of Parliament – the Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, and the central regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nii Kommey Adams, are to receive the 2024 Jacobs-Abbey Lifetime Achievement Award in Alexandria, Virginia, United States (US).
The event is scheduled to take place on November 9, 2024, at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center, Virginia, US, where exceptional individuals who have significantly contributed to leadership and community development would be awarded.
Also among the distinguished recipients would be Aaron Aboagye, who will receive the 2024 US Presidential Life Award for Volunteer Services. As the managing partner of McKinsey & Company’s Detroit office, Mr. Aboagye leads a team of 190 colleagues and serves clients in the industrial sector. His commitment to creating educational opportunities, mentorship, and driving positive change through initiatives like the Detroit Black Executives Summit has earned him this esteemed recognition.
Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams will be honored with the 2024 Dr. Nina L Meyerhof Leadership Award. As the founder and Executive Director of New Vision Foundation-International, Mr. Adams has empowered over 500 young individuals and facilitated numerous community development projects in Ghana. His dedication to youth empowerment, philanthropy, and political engagement has impacted his community.
Ernest Appiah will also receive the 2024 Dr. Nina L Meyerhof Leadership Award for his outstanding work as a Social Worker and Social Entrepreneur. His leadership in transforming the ANOPA PROJECT into an NGO that supports differently abled children showcases his commitment to inclusivity and societal progress.
A statement issued by the Office of the Speaker of Parliament, sighted by this portal revealed that the Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies (JAGILS) had named Speaker Bagbin as an honoree at its 6th Annual Banquet and Awards Gala at Hilton Alexandria Mark Center, Virginia, US.
The said award is presented to leaders who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to civil and human rights, recognizing their dedication to advancing justice, peace, and freedom for workers and community members through their daily work.
It said his nomination was made by the Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute Leadership in Virginia and was approved by the Whitehouse in June 2024.
