The Climate Communications and Local Governance Africa (CCLG-Africa) will be launched today Monday, August 2, 2021 in Accra. It will be under the theme “Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation; A Collective Responsibility at the Local Level”.
Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament the Right Honourable Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, will be the Special Guest of Honour.
CCLG-Africa is a network of media professionals and environmental experts dedicated to the pursuit of climate change and the Environment.
The members are committed to Advocacy, Education, Capacity Building and Dissemination of Information on Climate Change and Environmental matters at the local level.
The group seeks to provide a forum for discussions and exchange of ideas, experiences and information on matters of mutual interest related to climate change and local governance in collaboration with local, national and international bodies and agencies with interest and aims at climate adaptation and mitigation.
The objectives of the CCLG-Africa is to disseminate information on climate change at the local level; build the capacity of climate change mitigation and environmental protection activists; promote corporate responsibility and environmental sustainability;advocate for environmental justice and ecosystem sustainability; and act as a watchdog to ensure that government fulfils its environmental protection objectives.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, and signed by its president Kofi Don Agor, the group also aims to advocate for effective natural resource governance and promote environmental protection programmes in Ghana and Africa.
