Twenty Six Suspected Internet Fraudsters Nabbed at Kasoa

The suspects who were mostly foreigners particularly Nigerians included 24 males and 2 females. They were arrested at Iron City a suburb of Kasoa from different locations following intelligence gathered.

Twenty six (26) persons suspected to be involved in internet fraud popularly known as Sakawa have been arrested by the Central East Regional Police Command.

The suspects who were mostly foreigners particularly Nigerians included 24 males and 2 females. They were arrested at Iron City a suburb of Kasoa from different locations following intelligence gathered.

The police during the raid retrieved 31 laptops, 26 mobile phones, 3 machetes and some dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp including some toffees suspected to be containing the same substance.

DCOP Okyere Boapeah, the Central East Regional Police Commander in an interview noted that, the suspects were currently being screened for the various suspicious activities and will later be processed to court for prosecution.

He assured the general public of the Central East Regional Police command’s resolve in ensuring that there is a drastic reduction in the crime rate within Kasoa and its environs which have witnessed high rates of crime in recent times.

DCOP Okyere Boapeah admonished landlords in Ghana who rent out their apartments to foreigners particularly Nigerians to conduct proper background checks on them including finding out about their eligibility status from the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) before renting out houses to them.
