Stakeholders urge ECG to Ensure Uninterrupted Electricity During December 7th Elections

The Ghana Peace Awards, in collaboration with the Ghana Leadership Awards, Stability Foundation International, Global Economic Forum, and Dayspring Gospel Church, has called for free and fair elections ahead of the highly anticipated December 7th polls.

At a press conference held under the theme: “Government of the People, By the People, and For the People,” Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Nash, CEO of the Ghana Peace Awards, emphasized the need for vigilance and transparency by the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure credible election results that reflect the will of the people.

Key Highlights from the Conference:

  1. Call to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG):
    Stakeholders urged the ECG to ensure uninterrupted power supply before, during, and after the elections. Maintaining electricity is critical for a smooth electoral process, including vote counting and result announcements.
  2. Transparency and Vigilance by the Electoral Commission:
    Rev. Prof. Nash stressed that the EC must avoid repeating past mistakes that could disrupt the peaceful conduct of the elections. He called for strict adherence to transparency to foster public trust in the process.
  3. Professionalism from Security Forces:
    With December elections coinciding with the Christmas festive season, Rev. Prof. Nash appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the election task forces to demonstrate professionalism in their activities to maintain peace and order.

    Citing Liberia’s decade-long suffering due to political instability, Rev. Prof. Nash urged stakeholders to prioritize peace and stability, emphasizing the dire consequences of electoral violence.
  5. Promoting Peace and Recognizing Excellence:
    In anticipation of the Ghana Peace Awards ceremony, scheduled to honor distinguished personalities next month, Rev. Prof. Nash reiterated the importance of peace as Ghanaians prepare to cast their votes.
