STRANEK Congratulates Speaker Bagbin on his Election as President of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association

Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Parliamentary icon who has contributed to deepening governance and democracy from being the Member of Parliament 9MP) for the Nadowli West Constituency, through to being the Number 3 of the Republic of Ghana is lifting high the flag of the Republic of Ghana with his unanimously elected position as President of the CPA.

STRANEK-Africa has congratulated the Speaker of the 8th Parliament of the Republic of Ghana on his election as the President of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association International (CPA).

Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Parliamentary icon who has contributed to deepening governance and democracy from being the Member of Parliament 9MP) for the Nadowli West Constituency, through to being the Number 3 of the Republic of Ghana is lifting high the flag of the Republic of Ghana with his unanimously elected position as President of the CPA.

According to a statement signed by the Executive Director of STRANEK, Nii Tettey Tetteh, election is is an endorsement of the confidence imposed on the Speaker by over 180 member Parliaments of   the Commonwealth of Nations after having served well as Vice-President of the CPA.

“One of the most-experienced Member of Parliament of Ghana who will serve as the Chair of the Elections Committee of the Association is tried and tested. We are therefore confident about his unparalleled leadership which will perfect the hopes and aspirations of both the Anglophone and Francophone countries which form the 180 branches of CPA.

“Once again, we say kudos on the additional leadership step and we believe the demonstration of excellence by Rt. Hon. Speaker will help build and overcome the global economic challenges and promote parliamentary democracy. Indeed, we are all involved in building the nation,” the statement noted.
