Suhum: Removal of NDC Flags is a Threat to Peace in our Constituency

The NDC has outrightly condemned the act and is calling on the security agencies to investigate and promptly bring to book the perpetrators of such act.

National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Suhum constituency of the Eastern Region has expressed its disgust at the current political fracas rearing its ugly head in the area. This follows the removal of the party’s flags and banners in the constituency by some alleged NPP thugs.

The NDC has outrightly condemned the act and is calling on the security agencies to investigate and promptly bring to book the perpetrators of such act.

Former flagbearer of the NDC, Ex-President John Dramani Mahama was scheduled to attend a function in the constituency over the weekend but was later cancelled.

As part of preparations to welcome him by his party faithfuls in the constituency, they hoisted and printed banners but this was pulled down, allegedly on the commands of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) -Margaret Darkwa.

“The NPP is very much aware of the humiliating defeats that awaits them as we inch closer to December 7, 2024 general elections hence has adopted to this childish and disgraceful tactics just to intimidate our people and scare them from coming out in their numbers to vote for President Mahama and our Parliamentary Candidates on election day”, the communication Officer of the NDC in the constituency, Maxwell Dove has noted in a release.

He charged the security agencies to urgently investigate these series of attacks and appropriately call to order the perpetrators and assigns in order to boost the confidence of Constituents in the region as a whole.

“Suhum Constituency is a very peaceful place, hence this shameful act being executed by the NPP and the MCE just to destabilize the seeming peace enjoyed should be of great concern to all and sundry.”

Below is the press release:

NDC CONDEMNS THE REMOVAL OF THE NDC FLAGS BY NPP THUGS LED BY SUHUM MCE

The National Democratic Congress of Suhum constituency has learnt with great dissapointment, to the destroying of NDC’s flags hoisted on the principal street of Suhum township by NPP thugs led by the Suhum MCE.

Before our people could say anything, these NPP hooligans with the MCE visibly involved, started destroying our party flags.

The NPP is very much aware of the humiliating defeats that awaits them as we inch closer to December 7, 2024 General elections hence has adopted this childish and disgraceful tactic just to intimidate our people and scare them from coming out in their numbers to vote for President John Dramani Mahama and our Parliamentary Candidates on election day.

However, we will be forced to retaliate in double measure if they don’t put a stop to these acts.

We have always challenged them on issues and called for comparison of achievements of the two parties. Suhum deserves mature politicking and campaign of and on issues. Suhum does not deserve these needless instigation and antagonistic attitudes.

We call on the security agencies to urgently investigate these series of attacks and appropriately call to order the perpetrators and assigns in other to boost the confidence of Constituents in the constituency and the region at large.

Suhum Constituency is a very peaceful place, hence this shameful act being executed by the NPP and the MCE just to destabilise the seeming peace enjoyed should be of great concern to all and sundry.
