Sylvester Tetteh has snatched the Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro Parliamentary Candidacy position from the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Saad Habib.
This comes happened in the just ended New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries held nation-wide.
Tetteh, who is the current Chief Executive Officer of The National Youth Authority (NYA) contested with four other aspirants including George Addo Osei-Waree, Gifty Mensah, Fredrick Abban and Habib Saad.
Mr. Tetteh told Ghananewsonline.com.gh in an exclusive interview after he was officially declared the parliamentary candidate that his vision is to help build a strong front for the party in the constituency. He said education is one core mandate he intends to improve to solve the needs and wants of the constituents.
“The Youth are the pivot of societal development, and therefore, I have them in mind and so there would be the need for the creation of a skills training and talent development centre to educate them; this will enable me to create a foundation called the Sylvester Foundation,” he stated.
Tetteh used the opportunity to assure the people that he’ll become a proactive leader when he is elected; this he said would enable him to be proactive in attracting attention on the floor of parliament.
Tetteh who won the primaries massively with 317 votes out of the 540 valid votes cast against the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP); who had only 178 votes revealed that he has started intensive campaigning for the NPP in the constituency
“I will see to the improvement of water and drainage systems in the communities; as well as create motorable roads, since the constituency is developing fast as a new urban area,” Tetteh indicated.
He indicated that there should be the need for improved education for fisher folks; since the constituency is a coastal line, the fishermen need to be recognized.
He lamented a mining activity in the constituency, which accordingto him has resulted in the constant flooding of the main Mallam-Weija- Kasoa stretch of road whenever there is heavy down pour. This he said impedes free flow of traffic on the stretch.
The Parliamentary aspirant, hinted that when he is voted into parliament come December 7, 2020; he will liaise with the Minister of Education to transform the Two-Day Senior High Schools in the constituency into a boarding facility.
He as well hinted that when voted as MP, he will create a teacher motivation fund, to enable teachers access one-laptop-per teacher on hire purchase
