Teachers to pay rent for occupying school bungalows

“I, therefore, write to inform you that with effect from 1st March 2022 all Teachers/Staff occupying School/Government bungalow are to pay 10% of their basic salary. You are also to ensure all arrears owed are collected to avoid audit issues,”

Teachers in the country are expected to pay rent  for occupying school bungalows.

This is according to a letter from the Ghana Education Service and copied to all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education.

The letter in the possession of The NewsRoom and signed by the Director of Education in the Western Region, Felicia Agyeibea Okai referenced a 2006 Ministry of Finance circular which talked about the introduction of such a policy.

The letter called on the teachers to brace themselves for a 10 per cent deduction from their salaries for occupying the said government bungalows.
