Techiman North: We still stand by our words; No road No vote convener voice out

“We were at the palace when the minister visited the chiefs, he said a lot of things concerning our road, per his words, there is hope that our road will be constructed but he is not the first government official to assure us on our road, our DCE, current MP and former MP and even the MP of Techiman South has all assured us about our roads but nothing has been done so after 2 months if nothing is happening on the road, we will embark on the demonstration.

The Conveners of the “No Road No Vote Campaign”  have disclosed to the general public with an ultimatum that latest by June if the contract of Asuyei, Buoyem Mesidan road is not awarded then they have no option than to go on demonstration.

According to them, the demonstration was supposed to happened on Friday 5th April, 2024 but due to the Visit of the Minister for Roads and Highways who double as the Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, Hon. Asenso Boakye on his working visit at Buoyem, they halted the demonstration as a sign of respect to the Minister and his entourage.

Public relations Officer for the group Nana Afena disclosed on Classic FM Kokrokoo Morning Show with Rev. Nana Sieh Amakye that they don’t want to politicize the campaign so they had to wait after the visit of the Hon. Minister.

“We have already served notice to the police and all other appropriate offices about our intention of organizing a demonstration to voice out our displeasure concerning the nature of our road, the demonstration was supposed to happened on last Friday but the Minister was in town and we didn’t want to do anything that will make others think that we are being politically motivated so we stopped the demonstration in respect to the Minister and his team.” Nana Afena, told our reporter.

He explained that, they got the opportunity to listen to the Minister when he visited the chiefs and will give the government an ample time (2 months) to mobilize resources to start the project and if after 2 months they don’t see any contractor on site, they will embark on the demonstration.
