Techiman Traditional Council urges residents to support Meko Bono festival

The event is an annual program organized by Bonofie with support from all traditional leaders of the erstwhile Brong Ahafo region.

The Techiman Traditional Council, has urged the people of Techiman, and all indigents of the Bono communities within and outside Ghana to come in their numbers come Friday 10th August 2024, to support the Meko Bono Homecoming and Festival.

The Meko Bono Homecoming and Festival, which will take place at the Bono East regional capital, Techiman, aims to showcase the rich culture of the Bono Kingdom and over 10,000 people are expected to partake in the grand durbar come Saturday.

The event is an annual program organized by Bonofie with support from all traditional leaders of the erstwhile Brong Ahafo region.

The official launching of the week-long celebrations started last Monday, 5th August 2024, with the Omanhene of Nkyeraa in the Wenchi Municipal Assembly.  Odinoho Nana Tabri Yeboah III, gracing the program as the chairperson.

Prior to the grand durbar, there will be a series of events such as health screening, Bonofie Beauty pageant competition, Kwaakye street carnival, night with the artists, a day for the fetish priest in all Bono lands to display their culture including many others.

Speaking to Elvisanokyenews.com, The Twafohene of the Techiman Traditional Council and Chief Executive Director of Classic FM, Nana Afena Nketiah II,  urged the people of Techiman to come out in their numbers to support the events.

“I want to draw our attention to the Meko Bono Festival, the event is being organized by some youths in our region with the aim of uniting all the people of the erstwhile Brong Ahafo region which is a very good initiative.

“I urge all the people of Techiman to come out in their numbers and support the program because all the chiefs in the Techiman Traditional Council will be coming, the event is being hosted by the Techiman Traditional Council so we plead with our people to come and support and prove to the world that Techiman is indeed blessed.” He said.

On his part, the acting President of the Techiman Traditional Council and Krotihene of the Techiman Traditional Area, Nana Takyi Frih II, called on the residents of Techiman to as a matter great importance seek to it that, their communities are well cleaned before the commencement of the grand durbar.

“I am pleading with the people of Techiman, our people to come out in their and support the Techiman Traditional Council, we will be hosting chiefs from Cote D’ivoire, Osu-Alata, Dormaa, Sunyani, Drobo, Sampa, Domase, Nsoatre, Basa, Kwame Danso, Yeji, Nsawkwa, Seikwa, Mo, Kintampo, including many more will be gracing the occasion, so come out in our numbers and support the program.

“I will plead with you to ensure that your communities are cleaned before the commencement of the grand durbar, so that those who will be visiting Techiman on Saturday will attest to it that Techiman is a clean city.

“All the traditional leaders in Techiman and the Bono lands will be coming and we invite all and sundry to also come and grace the occasion. ” Nana said.
