The Tema Regional Police Commander, COP Daniel Kwame Afriyie, last week stormed an armed robbery incident at Kuberkrom, a community in the Kpone-Katamanso district.
The commander’s visit to the scene was to have firsthand information about the situation and how to clamp down on the criminals.
According to our sources, the armed robbers who were armed to the teeth attacked a residence and began robbing them of their properties last Thursday at around 1 AM at Kuberkrom.
A police source told this portal that a distress call was made to the police patrol team stationed around the community to come to the rescue of the victims.
“The patrol team moved quickly to where the incident was taking place. But unfortunately, the robbers fled from the scene upon noticing that the police were closing in on them”, the source said.
The robbers who were numbering about four(4), all armed, made away with laptops, iPhones and other valuable properties after shooting one of their victims, who is only identified as Isaac in his abdomen and bottoms.
The police patrol team that dashed to the scene, therefore, conveyed the victim to the hospital for treatment
COP Daniel Kwame Afriyie, who was in the company of other senior officers under his command said, he is concerned about the “crimes, particularly armed robbery within the Tema region.”
“I am here today with my officers to learn firsthand knowledge about what happened here, and to assure you that those who perpetrated this hideous crime will be rounded up soon. They can run but they can’t hide from us,” the red-eyed commander assured the victims.
He added that the visit was to also afford him the rare opportunity to see how the victims were coping after the ungodly incident and to also assure them that the regional police command has strategised on improved policing in the region moving forward.
COP Afriyie together with his men also took the opportunity and visited the victim who was shot during a robbery incident at the hospital. He assured him that the robbers will be arrested and be made to face the laws of the country.
The regional commander also called on residents of all communities within the region to help the police fight crime by reporting criminals or suspected robbers to any nearby police station for swift action.
He assured them that those who report such criminals to the police will have their identities hidden and will also have complete police protection. This, he said, residents should not be afraid to give relevant information to the police to ensure law and order.
Residents who spoke to us after the commander’s visit said they hoped that his swift visit may mark an end to robberies and other crimes in the community.
They said they were happy that the Regional Commander has rushed to the robbery scene and assured them of proper police protection going forward.
