The Gold Digger

And our months of research soon revealed Anna was worth a whooping twenty million dollars - a mammoth inheritance she had claimed after her husband's demise almost a year ago

I waited patiently at the parking lot, and under the scorching sun until Anna walked out the mall pushing a full cart.

She appeared elegant, nothing short of the nobility fit for a crown queen. Her steps were precise, her poise unlike any other. She was clad in a mini black gown, and adorned with this sleek hair that shimmered gracefully in the sun.

She soon arrived the open booth of her waiting car and began transferring her shopping bags therein. I bit my lower lips, dropped my hands into the pockets of my jacket and accosted her.

“Hello, pretty!” I voiced with a wide grin “It’s good seeing you again”

Anna barely turned to steal a glance at me before returning to what she was doing. I could tell she wasn’t in for much talks.

I cleared my throat.

“Okay, I am Desmond. The guy that helped recover your bag from those pickpockets the other day…” I said, helping her put the rest of the bags into the car booth.

“Oh My!” Anna snapped, returning a second glance at me “Yes, it’s you!”

I nodded and smiled

“So sorry. Face blindness is really taking a toll on me. Can hardly recognize anyone” She blurted and sighed “And thanks for the other day…”

“It’s fine…” I mooted and returned my hands back to my pockets.

“I am Anna, by the way…” She voiced, extending a hand. We exchanged pleasantry and a brief conversation ensued.

Our converse touched quite a lot in such a brief moment, and I equally seized the opportunity to profess my feelings for her. She was quite reserved, and when I had suggested a dinner date sometime in the future, she became skeptical.

“You know what?” She said, looking at her watch “My birthday is coming up in three days and I would love you to be there. Maybe then we could talk further”

I obliged and we exchanged contacts. Afterwards, she mounted the steering of her automobile, a 2021 black Gwagon and zoomed out of sight. I couldn’t contain my excitement.

I got home eventually, still on cloud nine. All day long I couldn’t take the thoughts of her off my mind. I called my guys to break the good news to them and they dropped by at my place soon afterwards.

It had been a streak of back to back successes since we started this whole thing and it seemed the universe was in alignment with our goal. When Anna was brought into the picture, my guys and I practically spent two months stalking, studying and making researches about her. Even the whole pickpocket thing was a clever ploy orchestrated to win her trust.

And our months of research soon revealed Anna was worth a whooping twenty million dollars – a mammoth inheritance she had claimed after her husband’s demise almost a year ago.

The goal was simple – To milk Anna as much as possible.

I earnestly looked forward to Anna’s birthday and thereafter. And a day to the main event, I had borrowed some money to go clothes shopping. I borrowed a pair of boots as well.

It was a houseparty, and very colorful with all shades of fun. There were a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers in attendance, and gifts kept pouring in for the celebrant. I equally got Anna a gift, a gold wrist watch worth quite a fortune.

The party lasted in their hours, and far into the night. When a good number of the guests had departed and the frenzy died down, Anna invited me into her bedroom.
