The Kenyan Demonstration: Lessons to the Ghanaian Voter

This resistance to the plight of the people in Kenya can NEVER happen in GHANA even if a bad and insensitive government decides to strangulate our economy wellbeing.

Why did President RUTO withdrew his Finance Bill 2024? He has now seen that the POWER resides with the people and when the people decides, nothing can stop them. He must keep his electoral promises of enhancing better economic life for the KENYAN.

In the KENYAN political environment, the citizens are more tribalistic than being overly PARTISAN unlike Ghana where we are overly and entrenched partisan.

The difference is that in an environment of political tribalism, the people can collectively and passionately stand up to NATIONAL issues which confront their economic life unlike in an overly POLITICAL IDIOCY environment where the people collectively rise to defend their individual political parties irrespective of it’s economic consequences.

Loyalty to country is better in a tribalistic environment than where the citizens are overly partisan; their loyalty is to political parties.

As a result of partisanship , supporters of the New Patriotic Party NPP and their members of Parliament did not support the National Democratic Congress NDC to oppose the US military Base deal, the E-Levy bill and the removal of Ken Ofori Atta as Finance Minister from office even though the NPP mps initiated the called for his removal.

This resistance to the plight of the people in Kenya can NEVER happen in GHANA even if a bad and insensitive government decides to strangulate our economy wellbeing.

The Kenyans eschewed anything partisanship and demanded that that monster finance bill 2024 is unconditionally withdrawn and persisted till the president yielded to their call.

The only flag seen during the demonstration was the KENYAN national flag.

The Non Aligned Voters Association of Ghana NAVAG, salutes the people of Kenya for rising up in the interest of their nation to resist oppression and economic strangulation. This is the true national spirit of demanding good governance from the political leadership.

As we share in your victory of resisting bad economic policies, we deeply express our condolences to those who lost their lives , may their patriotic spirits rest in perfect peace.

Let’s eschew entrenched partisanship in our national political discourse and hold our elected political leadership accountable .

Democracy is very expensive and it’s our responsibility to demand dividends of democracy as enshrined in our constitution.

Let’s remind ourselves that extreme partisan posture is dangerous to our democracy and economic advancement. It also encourages divisiveness, corruption, nepotism, injustice and inequality .

To NAVAG, it’s not enough in just voting but demanding good and accountable governance from leadership.
