‘The NPP must be born again’ – Nana Yaa Jantuah

That decision was on the back of the government’s decision to suspend the salaries of its members for their failure to return to the classroom.

Nana Yaa Akyempim Jantuah, a former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has asked the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration to use the remaining five months for the elections to change.

She says the government has been insensitive to the plight of Ghanaians asking it to use the remaining five months to be “born again”.

Her comments come on the back of the striking College of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) whose conditions of service have not been met by the government.

The teachers have been striking for forty (40) days now, and announced a withdrawal of all their services on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

That decision was on the back of the government’s decision to suspend the salaries of its members for their failure to return to the classroom.

Reacting to the issue on TV3’s NewDay Thursday, July 25, 2024, Nana Yaa Jantuah noted that the government’s refusal to pay the teachers leaving the students wandering on their campuses is unfortunate.

She told host Berla Mundi that the government ought to pay the teachers for the students to return to the class rather than withholding what is due them.

“The people don’t want meetings, they say give me my money. You owe me and you say I should come for a meeting? I always come for a meeting, nothing comes out of the meeting, all I want is my money, that’s all. You owe me, you don’t want to pay me and you say meeting.

“It is unfortunate that the young ones are going through this but this government must change. This five months that is left, they should change and be born again,” she stated.
