At certain critical moments in one’s life, there are some voices that can’t be ignored, so seems the NDC delegates’ voices as spoken very loud at the just ended 10th National Delegate Congress which took place on the 17th of December 2022 at the Accra Sports stadium.
Just as in that typical village setting, you can’t ignore the voice of the gongon beater, so loud were the voices of the delegates that, the powers that be can’t and should not dare ignore them.
The question on the mind of many, including the author of this article is whether the NDC will keep hopes alive after the Congress or take away the little hope that is left of Ghanaians?
NDC, Are We Going to Inspire Hope or Dampen The Little That is Left in Ghanaians?
Not just did the party made amends from its Youth and Women conference by restoring and maintaining hope, but spoke in a clear and an unambiguous language that even the hearing impaired can identify with . That, they can’t sit down for their rights to be trampled upon , that they must take what rightfully belongs to them, that, they must take their destiny into their own hands. that, the NDC came out of a revolution must not be lost on leadership, that, the NDC is becoming too feeble allowing cowardice to breed in must not be allowed to fester. These and many more were the perfect messages delivered succinctly, garnished with the most spicy ingredients one can find in the market to the newly elected executives.
The best these newly elected executives can do at the moment is just “to give to a pig what it grants”. This team of executives must deliver the victory the teaming supporters of the party are yearning for come 2024, no matter the situation.
In fact, no one cares how that victory is to be served. In fact, how tough the aspirants spoke during the campaigns gave us hope, may it never be said that, those toughness displaced were just for the campaigns. The time to act is now.
Elections are over, the only camp that should be remaining should be the camp of the great NDC. Leadership must cut short their celebration, reach out to the vanquished, bring them together, for there’s enough space under the umbrella for everyone who is ready and willing to be part of the rescue mission.
The swift responses to calls and messages during the campaigns by the aspirants must not cease because it makes the grassroots feel belonged and motivated. The elders say “one who sets up a shop by the roadside must learn to put up a smiling face”, after all people must find you accomodating enough before they can even get closer.
As long as the party continues to be in the business of mobilising people towards elections, there must be a deliberate effort to treat every single individual with dignity and love.
The fearlessness, courage, results collation prowess and the other juicy promises and wonderful attributes touted during the campaigns must start to manifest now because if you keep water in your mouth for long,it turns into saliva and also the chick that will grow to become a huge fowl will be seen the very day it is hatched from the egg.
The new leadership of the NDC led by “General Mosquito” Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia must bridge the gap between the top and the branches and the Constituencies because elections are won at the polling stations where the branches are supervised by the Constituencies.
The mantra that elections are won at the polling stations should not only be for the platforms but rather be made to clothe itself with flesh and the real scenarios that will let that happen should never be lost on anyone
Remember, you can’t afford to disappoint the teeming supporters of the party at this time. That will be suicidal. The clock is really ticking so fast.
