Sunday’s victory against Accra Lions marked Asante Kotoko Sporting Club’s second consecutive win in the current season in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
The victory powered by Albert Amoah’s lone goal propelled the unbeaten club to the top of the GPL table.
Despite leading the table, they are level on points with Bibiani Gold Stars who occupy the second place.
After opening the season with a win against Karela United, Kotoko’s next two matches were bedevilled with draws before they clutched a highly-yearned victory against Nsoatreman.
After match day five, with an outstanding game for Medeama SC, the Yellow and Mauves hold 10 points while Nations FC occupy the fourth place with nine points. Berekum Chelsea and Visions FC both hold eight points in the fifth and sixth places respectively.
They are accordingly followed by Heart of Lions and Samartex with seven and eight points each. Meanwhile, Karela, Hearts of Oak, Bechem United and Young Apostles follow with five points each.
Wallowing in relegation are Aduana, Dreams FC and Legon Cities while Accra Lions and Basake Holy Stars are only two places away from the red zone.
