Three children have lost their lives under mysterious circumstances at Tuba in the Ga South Municipality.

The three, 12-year-old Elisha Adu and his 9-year-old brother, Samuel Adjei Mensah aka Tawiah and one other, Isaac Amoah, 8, who are friends are said to have drowned in a sand winning pit located at Eric Addo Estates, a popular suburb of the Municipality.

According to news reports, two of the children tried to rescue their friend who had fallen into the deep end of the pit with his bicycle.

A news report on Accra-based Metro TV said the three were playing with their bicycles when the incident happened, which has thrown the community into a state of mourning.

Residents who helped retrieve the boys from the abandoned pit said several complaints made to the Ga South Municipal Assembly over the illegal activities have fallen on deaf ears.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue while the police take over investigations to unravel the circumstances leading to the drowning.
