The TUCEE Institute of Counselling and Technology (TICT) has held its maiden graduation ceremony for individuals who underwent eight (8) month training in Cyber Counselling.
Cyber Counselling employs use of technological tools such as telephony, social media including WhatsApp, Instagram, zoom among others by the Cyber Counsellor to Counsel clients remotely instead of face to face meetings.
This method of psychotherapy has through research been proven to be more effective in providing satisfaction to clients since it enables them to freely express themselves on their predicaments for the necessary assistance by the trained Cyber Counsellor.
Founder and Principal of the TUCEE Institute of Counselling and Technology, Dr Cecelia Tutu-Danquah in an address reminded the graduands to be conscious of the fact that they are privileged among many who wished to be in their position as they have been enabled, prepared and set aside by the Creator himself who is the greatest Counsellor, to bring back wretched souls to restoration through counseling services.
Cyber Counselling or electronic therapy she said provide an opportunity for Counsellors to offer help to some clients who hitherto will not seek couselling ordinarily for fear of disclosing their identity.
Dr Cecelia Tutu-Danquah charged newly trained Counsellors take advantage of the large client-base as a result of the new normal brought about by the coronavirus pandemic to make meaningful impacts on society for the benefit of the whole country and beyond and become renowned counsellors.
“I hope that mother Ghana would be happy, I hope that the clients that are hiding in shame and secrecy would now be bold enough to call you, remember the ethics that you learnt, remember all the principles and implement them and I believe that one day, you will be called as the world renowned Cyber Counsellor and the world would be proud of you” Dr Tutu-Danquah admonished.
According to her, the TUCEE Institute is committed to help develop the much needed Counsellors in all spheres for national development.
The Course representative of the maiden Cyber Counselling graduands in Ghana, Mr Ben Addy Lamptey on behalf of his colleagues’ fellow Cyberians thanks TUCEE for the opportunity.

He assured of their readiness to be good ambassadors of the institute in the discharge of their Counselling responsibilities.
Some of the trainees also expressed appreciation to TUCEE and noted the training will help them impact lives positively with ease irrespective of the clients location.
The trainees declare the Counsellors’ oath assuring to make their presence through counseling be a healing and a transforming channel for all in confidentiality.
Among the 53 first graduating trainees of the Cyber Counselling Course of TICT include three PhD holders who are lecturers and others with varied backgrounds.
