Uber, Yango, Bolt operators to commence payment of Vehicle Income Tax 1 January

“The Ghana Revenue Authority wishes to bring to the attention of the general public, especially ride hailing service owners (Uber, Yango, Bolt etc) that, pursuant to Section 22 of Regulations 2016, LI 2244, any commercial vehicle owner that earns income from the operation of a commercial vehicle shall pay income tax on quarterly basis.”

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced the implementation of the Value Income Tax (VIT) for ride-hailing vehicles such as Bolt, Uber and Yango effective 1 January 2024.

It is not yet clear what percentage of income the ride hailing services are supposed to pay as Value Income Tax (VIT) to the GRA.

A statement issued by GRA on Wednesday (20 December), advised all ride-hailing vehicles to carry out a one-time registration of their vehicles at any GRA office to facilitate payment.

“All ride-hailing companies are to kindly note that these requirements take effect on Monday 1 January 2024,” the GRA statement said.
