Head Pastor of Reigners Palace Chapel Inc., Prophet Dr. Godwin Essien, has called on Christians to endeavor to give honour wherever it is due in all their endeavors.
He stated that this starts with God, then Jesus Christ, the church, their Pastor, leaders, elders and the society as a whole. According to him, giving honour goes with challenges such as disgrace, abuse, discouragement and many more. All the same, they should endeavor to endure these in even their very trying moments.
“You must endure certain things, like disgrace, insults, etc. to enable you get somewhere. If you don’t want to be disgraced and abused, don’t aspire for greatness, he admonished.
Prophet Essien gave this admonishing in a sermon in the auditorium of the church near Rockies International School, Tantra Hill in Accra last Thursday, August 18, 2021.
He intimated that giving honour goes with honour in return, the associated challenges notwithstanding. “Whatever you go through in this regard is to make you better. Therefore don’t feel bitter!” he emphasized amidst thunderous applause from the congregation.
FIRST HONOUR GOD, JESUS
The charged Prophet asked his audience to first give honour to our God, the Creator of the Universe and His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, Saviour of the World in accordance with the Biblical saying “if you honour me, I will honour you”.
A PROPHET IS NOT HONOURED IN HIS HOMETOWN
Buttressing his point with Mark 6:4, Prophet Essien was quick to point out that sadly enough, a prophet is not without honour in his hometown as happened to Jesus in the afore mentioned verse. This, he noted was not the best and must be avoided by all true Christians and followers of Christ.
FIGHT FAMILIARITY; RESPECT A MAN OF GOD
Prophet Essien noted that since familiarity breeds contempt, it was a common place that people refuse to respect their local Pastors. Describing this as bad, he urged his audiences to endeavor to avoid this by fighting familiarity. He noted that honouring ones pastor connects the one to his blessings. He intimated that most people had not had their prayers answered because of the disrespect they showed to their Pastors. “Go to the Catholics and learn how they respect their fathers”! he stressed , attracting laughter from his audience. The Prophet also charged his listeners to learn to give honour while in the church and stop pressing their phones, moving up and down, going out etc. these he describe as little foxes “that can destroy ones prayer and future”.
PETER, ANDREW, JOHN
Prophet Essien asked his listeners if they had ever wondered why Jesus used the afore mentioned Apostles so consistently. He told them that it was because of the honour those Apostles gave him. While charging Christians to do same, Prophet Essien pointed out that if one was not careful, he could be in church for years but his blessings would elude him.
TALK LESS DO MORE
The Prophet also admonished his listeners against too much talking. This he said took off one’s prospects. Likening this to the parrot. Prophet Essien pointed out that, that is why they (parrots) cannot fly high. “They use all their energy in talking, while eagles talk less and soar high”, he said.
HONOUR GIVES ACCESS TO PRIVILEGES
Citing John 11:1-5, Prophet Essien noted that honour can give access to privileges. He pointed out that it was the honour Abraham gave to the passing Angels that granted him God’s message and subsequent blessing. Honour to ones prophet, therefore can provoke him to bless you, he said. He was quick to note that in this present generation, people disregard people who are humble and simple, mistaking them for foolishness. “Nevertheless, the way you honour people can create access in your life because as you show honour, it comes back to you. It was honour to Elijah by Elisha, that brought him to the lime light” he emphasized. He stressed that in giving honour, one must do it with faithfulness and consciousness.
Setting the record straight
In our previous publication titled “Don’t play tricks with God”, we inadvertently referred to the Man of God as Professor instead of Prophet (possibly uplifting him from his doctorate position to Professorship). Also we called him Edwin instead of Godwin (possibly carried away by the win aspect in the two names-Ed-Win; God-Win) May the God Lord make the Man of Godwin, win all the time. Nevertheless, regret any inconvenience done him in this regard and apologies profusely.
