In a significant move aimed at making football more affordable and accessible, UEFA has announced a major reduction in ticket prices for visiting fans across its men’s club competitions.
Starting from the 2024/25 season, the maximum price that home clubs can charge away supporters will be capped at €60 ($66.4) for UEFA Champions League matches, €40 ($44.2) for UEFA Europa League games, and €20 ($22.1) for UEFA Conference League fixtures.
This landmark decision, backed by the European Club Association (ECA) and Football Supporters Europe (FSE), highlights UEFA’s commitment to enhancing the fan experience and ensuring that football remains an inclusive sport.
The move is designed to support the passionate supporters who travel across Europe to cheer on their teams, helping to preserve the vibrant atmosphere that defines European football.
A step forward for fans
The reduction in ticket prices is not just a temporary measure. UEFA plans to further lower the price cap for the 2025/26 season, with the Champions League maximum dropping to €50 ($55.3), and the Europa League to €35 ($38.7), while the Conference League cap will remain at €20 ($22.1).
This decision is part of a broader initiative to improve the overall matchday experience for fans, recognizing the crucial role they play in the success of European competitions.
UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin emphasized the importance of this move, stating,
“Today’s decision marks another key step in reaffirming UEFA’s commitment to enhancing the matchday experience for all fans. By introducing more fan-friendly policies, we continue our mission to keep football as an inclusive sport where supporters who travel across Europe to follow their teams are valued and recognised.”
The ECA and FSE have also praised the decision, with ECA Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi highlighting the positive impact on fans, and FSE Executive Director Ronan Evain noting the importance of away fans in creating the electric atmosphere that European club fixtures are known for.
This decision reflects a shared commitment among UEFA, clubs, and fan organizations to put supporters at the heart of European football, ensuring that the beautiful game remains accessible to all, regardless of where they are watching from.
