His Excellency Bishop Dr. Akwasi Adu Amankwah, United States Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Assembly, has been honoured with the prestigious “Federation of World Peace and Love Award” during the 2024 United Nations General Assembly.
The ceremony, held on September 20, brought together prominent dignitaries, including UN ambassadors and representatives of the Governor of New York.
In an exclusive interview with Opemsuo Radio’s Kwame Awuah Nimfour, Bishop Amankwah expressed his deep gratitude and highlighted his sources of inspiration.
Apart from acknowledging God’s guidance, he credited the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as a key figure who has shaped his approach to leadership and peacebuilding.
“They honoured me with the Leadership for Conscience, Love, and Peace Award, which signifies they have recognised Otumfuo’s nephew or grandson, in me – Bishop Dr. Akwasi Adu Amankwah. They are pleased with my efforts in promoting peace and love across various regions, including the United States, Africa, Latin America, Asia, Europe, and the West Indies,” he said.
The UN Ambassador further dedicated the award to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, emphasizing the Asantehene’s significant influence on his life.
“I also dedicate this award to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Your grandson in New York presents this honour of Leadership for Conscience, Peace, and Love to you. You trained me with wisdom, and it is your humility and spirit of unity that I have carried with me. Nana, you are a true champion of peace and unity.”
