The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region has reaffirmed its strong support for the party’s manifesto, titled “Resetting Ghana,” emphasizing its potential to drive significant development in the region.
At a press conference in the regional capital, Ho, party officials articulated that the manifesto is not merely a list of promises, but a comprehensive strategy aimed at tackling the urgent challenges faced by the Volta Region and Ghana at large.
Recognizing the Volta Region as a vital stronghold for the NDC, the leadership highlighted that the manifesto’s proposals are crucial for rebuilding the nation, which they claim has suffered under the current administration led by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
They expressed confidence in the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, asserting that his leadership will ensure the successful implementation of the manifesto’s commitments.
Key developmental initiatives outlined in the manifesto include:
- Upgrading Ho Airport into a training hub with certified maintenance systems.
- Revitalizing abandoned agricultural facilities, particularly in Aveyime and Adidome.
- Constructing a modern market in Aflao.
- Establishing a modern inland fish terminal at Kpando Torkor to boost the fish industry.
- Rehabilitating irrigation projects across various communities.
- Revitalizing the Juapong Textile Factory.
- Expanding water supply systems to ensure equitable access to clean water.
- Partnering with the private sector to develop the Port of Keta.
- Constructing essential inter-regional roads to enhance connectivity.
In addition to regional projects, they insist that the NDC’s manifesto includes general policies aimed at alleviating economic hardships for all Ghanaians, such as a no-academic-fee policy for first-year tertiary students and free primary healthcare.
The leadership urged the citizens of the Volta Region to mobilize and vote for Mahama and the NDC parliamentary candidates to bring these transformative plans to fruition, emphasizing that the success of these initiatives hinges on active participation in the upcoming elections.
