Burkina Faso have been crowned champions of the WAFU Zone B U-17 tournament which was held in Ghana after they defeated Côte d’Ivoire in the final at the University of Ghana Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Ivorians could have taken the lead just six minutes into the start of the game but Koulibaly missed from close range.
However, the Burkinabes grew stronger into the game and took the lead in the 27th minute through Asharaf Tabsoba.
Three minutes later, Côte d’Ivoire came back into the game with an equalizer as Mohammed Diarra’s deflected long-range effort found its way into the post.
The game then travelled into the halftime break with both teams on level.
After the recess, Burkina Faso quickly went up again in the 50th minute with Asharaf Tabsoba registering his second of the night.
And with just a minute to the end of 90 minutes, substitute Cherif Aboubacar Sawadogo added the third to seal victory for the Burkinabe.
Both teams have, however, secured an automatic qualification to the next edition of the U-17 AFCON.
