Walk Ghana for Peace Urges Chiefs and International Community to Intervene in EC-Political Parties’ Dispute

The organization is urging the National House of Chiefs and international community to act swiftly and decisively to foster dialogue and resolve the critical issues at hand.

Walk Ghana for Peace has issued an urgent appeal for intervention from the National House of Chiefs and the international community to resolve the ongoing standoff between the Electoral Commission (EC) and the various political parties. The organization is calling for these influential bodies to mediate and address the contentious issues surrounding the voter register for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The group believes that involvement from esteemed chiefs and neutral international organizations such as the United Nations (UN), African Union (AU), and European Union (EU) will facilitate productive dialogue and help address the discrepancies raised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other concerned parties.

Walk Ghana for Peace advocates for a collaborative approach, encouraging the EC, NDC, and other stakeholders to engage in discussions to develop a mutually acceptable resolution. Such measures are seen as crucial for de-escalating tensions and preventing further polarization in Ghana’s politically charged environment.

Ghana is widely recognized for its stability and democratic values in Africa, but increasing election-related disputes pose a significant threat to the nation’s peace and stability. Walk Ghana for Peace stresses the importance of collective action to ensure a transparent and peaceful electoral process.

The organization is urging the National House of Chiefs and international community to act swiftly and decisively to foster dialogue and resolve the critical issues at hand.

Walk Ghana for Peace is a non-governmental initiative dedicated to promoting peace and stability in Ghana through inclusive engagement, with a mission to foster a harmonious political environment and ensure a peaceful democratic process leading up to and following the 2024 General Elections.

“Together, we can walk for peace and live in harmony!”
