The Volta regional branch of the United Cadres Front (UCF), a group affiliated to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since the party’s formative years during the revolution, has distanced itself from a splinter group calling itself ‘Pillars of Ghana Cadres,’ claiming to be affiliated to the UCF and having the backing of the NDC leadership in the region.
A release issued by the UCF on September 19, and signed by its Volta regional publicity officer, Cde. Selasi Agradi, condemned the activities of the so called Pillars of Ghana Cadres, cautioning the general public not to patronize the group as it was operating illegally on the back of the UCF and the party.
“The United Cadres Front Volta, has noticed with grave concern, activities of some individuals posing as Cadres grouping, Pillars of Ghana Cadres – we wish to bring to the attention of the general public that all cadre groupings right from the revolution to date, operate under only one recognized umbrella called the United Cadres Front (UCF) which is the only grouping known and endorsed by the NDC fraternity – there is no such grouping in the UCF called Pillars of Ghana Cadres,” the release stated.
It added that the NDC has since disbanded any such splinter groups as directed by the party’s general secretary, noting that the Chairman of the UCF in the Volta region is Cde. Comrade Samuel Adabla who is the only person authorized by the party to summon any such activities in the region.
“The UCF Volta therefore dissociates itself from any activities involving Pillars of Ghana Cadres – we caution the general public to disregard any announcements inviting them to an inaugural ceremony of the said Pillars of Ghana Cadres,” the release said.
